Do you have
confidence? Let me tell you it is ok to be confident in all areas of your life,
because if you are a Christian your life is bought and paid for and you will
inherit the kingdom of heaven. Just think long and hard about that statement
and if you don’t know that confidence, send me a message please.
When you think of a
confident person who do you think of? It seems like it could be the loud and
attention seeking person who controls a room when they enter it, but in my
opinion, I think of a person who is present with “quiet confidence” that doesn’t
need to talk about themselves, but is self-assured. They are comfortable in
their own skin, because ultimately they are robed in righteousness by Jesus
Christ and God sees us through Jesus. You should not be scared of the world or
what other people think of you… but we ALL still are. Why? Because everyone is
and if someone says they aren’t, they are lying.
If you
had complete confidence then you would not feel trepidation starting something
you have never done before, or sharing the gospel with your neighbor or your
sister, introducing yourself to someone new at a party or trying a new workout
or nutrition plan because you want to be healthier. Guess what? You will probably
fail to a degree. But you will not die and the next time you will get better at
it. Confide in someone and ask for help along the way, we are not meant to walk
through this life alone.
“But God didn’t
give us a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy
1:7) So often, I find that when I’m
scared that people are judging what I look like, it’s because inside, I’m
judging them, and so my hearts in the wrong place. Please don’t misunderstand me, it is not
wrong, to prefer to not work out in front of others, or shower in a public
locker room, it’s totally not. But be
sure your reasons/decisions, whatever they may be are centered in
righteousness, and the love of God, that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
